Between 19 and 31 August, we successfully completed the installation of the BODAN level crossing system at a railway level crossing on Półłanki Street in Kraków.
As the company introducing the BODAN system to the Polish market, Railway gft Polska has been actively involved in the preparation and implementation of the project from the very beginning. Close cooperation with the Client, PKP PLK, the Railway Research Institute (Instytut Kolejnictwa) and the trackwork contractor ZUE S.A. enabled the successful installation of the pilot test site and preparation for the next stage – testing the system under real operating conditions.
The BODAN system is a modern level crossing solution based on compact polymer concrete crossing panels. The panels are installed on specially designed vibration-absorbing elements, providing resilient support between the crossing surface and the rail.
This innovative design helps to reduce dynamic loads and vibrations while ensuring effective interaction between the crossing surface and the track structure. As a result, the system provides a durable and technically advanced solution for level crossings exposed to intensive railway and road traffic.
The use of high-strength polymer concrete (C90/105) further enhances the durability and long-term performance of the system, including under demanding operating conditions.
The Kraków pilot installation marks an important milestone in the introduction of the BODAN system to the Polish market and demonstrates the potential of innovative technologies in the development and modernisation of railway infrastructure in Poland.
